Which spell for a demonic disguise?

Let's say you're a low to mid-level bad guy, and you want to make yourself look like a half-demon. You don't want to actually BECOME a demon, or gain any demonic powers...you just want to look like you're a half-fiend. What spell do you use to achieve this effect?

Now, let's say you've made yourself look demonic, but you've got henchmen. They need to look dangerous too, you think to yourself, and you want them to appear like, say...elementals. No powers of elementals, no shapechanging or the like, just appear to be elementals to frighten your enemies. It doesn't have to last long....just long enough to kill your enemies, who will never live to tell the truth of your illusions. What spell do you use to achieve this effect?

Assume that the targets are all humanoids, including the BBEG, and that duration is irrelevant.

alter self or disguise or polymorph or ....

edit: define mid lvl.. for me d02 mid level is 10-14th

Mid-level in this case meaning 7th level, approximately.

I'm looking for illusions here, not actual physical change. Polymorph really does change the subject and that's not what I'm shooting for. What I'm really looking for is an improved Disguise Self...one that provides for greater changes. Does such an animal exist? Maybe I need to create one.

seeming is too high then.

alter self and disguise are your basic options. but they have shorter durations so you have to be picky.

[smacks head] Actually, casting Seeming from a scroll is perfect. It only requires a caster level check of DC 10, which gives him an 85% chance of success. Of course, he needs a higher CHA, but that can be fixed.
