So I sacrifice grammar in order to seek a boon from my pact masters.. What of it?

We have heard of warlocks in 5e, so what is your favourite warlock, and why? I'll say mine once I've got the poll up.

My Sorceror King Pact Warlock feels left out and is now sobbing in the corner. I hope you're happy.

I prefer the 4e ones in general, mostly because they're contributing something that the 4e Wizard can't do so well. The 3e Warlock was a second-rate citizen compared to several of the "spellcaster" classes.

I was a bit indifferent to the warlock until I read the essentials hexblade. For the first time I felt that someone had nailed both the pact and sword wielding arcanist side of things. I liked the image, the flavour and the mechanics. I like the combination of sword wielding, pact servants, elder itch blast and minor other magics.

Of the others I loved the theme of a star warlock, but they were hampered by the dual secondary attribute problem. I didn't like the teleporting fey warlocks, and I didn't see the dark(?) warlocks as they were somewhere else. Did I hear that they didn't play nicely with others?

I quite liked the way the 3e warlock worked, although felt it was lacking somewhat in choices that allowed distinguishing between different classes.

Hence my choices.

Cheers

Sorcere king pact warlock? Where did he spring from?

Dark Sun?

Was he mechanically interesting?

None of the above, really. I love the warlock concept but have yet to see an implementation that I liked.

(Also, you left out the 4E binder warlocks.)

My ideal warlock would look like the 3E one with a range of at-will powers, but with the 4E "pact boon" to boost your performance, and 4E's system where different pacts give you different powers.

For missing options: I really liked the vestige pact... but I haven't played one. I also liked the idea of sorcerer king pacts as a long time darksun fan, but reading it didn't inspire me.

I definitely like the Dark Pact because it didn't play nicely. It definitely felt like they sacrificed part of their soul.

Dark Sun, yes.

They get some stuff that's fairly unique to them, though I don't think they're quite in the same class as Fey Pact Warlocks. Quite fun all the same.

Actually, wasn't there a Vestige Pact somewhere as well?

The type of warlock that is given VERY HELPFUL advice and secrets from Caiphon. One that is wise enough to ignore Hadar. And one that know of our impending doom comes under the watch of Gibbet and his plan to...

MWHAHAHAHAHA! ZAP ZAP ZAP!
