Whirlwind Attack and Dervish Dance

So, you've got the feat Whirlwind Attack. Nice, staple feat for tanks, which, when you use the full attack action, you can give up your regular attacks and instead make one melee attack at your full base attack bonus against each opponent within reach. Never specifies WHEN the opponents must be in reach.

Now, combine it with the Dervish's Dervish Dance ability from Complete Warrior. While in a Dervish Dance and making a full attack action, you can move up to your speed, allthough having to move at least 5 feet between attacks.

How the heck do these two combine? Would it allow the Dervish to make one attack per 5 feet that he can move, as long as it is against different opponents each time? Combine this with A Thousand Cuts, which doubles the number of attacks or allows the Dervish to make two attacks per move once per day, and that's easily 18 attacks per round, if there's enough foes present. (It should be noted that Dervishes get +15 speed by level 10).

Am I missing something? Sure, that's a lot of attacks of opportunity against him, and works best for mowing down lots of weaker creatures, but, wow.

Whirlwind Attack is a Full Round Action, not a Full Attack Action, so you can't do one in a Dance.

What I had is straight out of the 3.5 PHB. It says "when you use the full attack action, you can give up your regular attacks and instead make one melee attack at your full base attack bonus against each opponent within reach."

Of course, it looks like the "Thousand Cuts" wouldn't work, because that'd probably count as extra attacks from an Ability, which Whirlwind Attack forbids. But, would they be "extra" attacks if it's just making two attacks between moves?

Assuming that the attacks granted by A Thousand Cuts weren't used against foes that had allready taken an attack.

For instance, a large combat with a tribe of orcs or similar creature (read: target rich environment), you could continue advancing around the horde.

As you quoted, you have to give up your regular attacks, which would be the dervish dance, and instead you get one attack per enemy within reach. Since it doesn't allow any sort of movement during the whirlwind, you could only attack the guys you threaten as you begin the attack.
That would be a disgusting combination though...moving at your full speed (perhaps as a Barbarian with Expeditious Retreat?) taking an attack at any enemy within reach...that's just sick and wrong...I like the way you think. ;)
