It isn't about the class with us, some people are just more inclined to take the lead more than others. While it isn't real roleplaying, it is difficult to win discussions or be creative, if your character is, while you aren't.
In games I play or DM, often times the paladin ends up being the party leader. He's got everything (usually) morals, good fighting skills, and charisma!
It's mostly certainly a comment on us, but we have a party of 3. If confronted with a passage that split into 4 we would mange to bicker about it and then split up, again and take all 4 options simulatneously
Is gets annoying after a while, some sessions we spent more times in different rooms than in the same one
However, when we actually agree to stick together it's always the character/player combo that can hand the situation best that steps to the fore.
