Who are the iconic characters from the settings?

With so many settings out for D&D from grey hawk, to the realms, and Dragonlance through Planscape and Darksun and Spelljammer, and now with Kalamar and Eberron.....that's a lot. Who would you say are the iconic characters from those settings? Who is the most iconic for each setting?

You would have to ask Wayne Reynolds on the Eberron Iconics. The same characters are found on all of his wrap-arround covers.

I especially like the Soul Knife on the Faiths of Eberron and Eyes of the Lich Queen.

For that matter...who are the Paizo Iconics? Their current Pathfinder Blog talks about their new Iconics for their OGL products, but what about these guys who've been appearing on Dragon and Dungeon covers for a while now? Will we ever find out more about them before the magazines are gone?

Obiviously the Greyhawk setting has all of the 'book' iconics, but Redgar, Mialee, Lidda, Jozan and Tordek are the most used (with Krusk, Vadania and and Ember close behind).

As for Eberron, even though I don't play the setting it seems the Lich Queen, Vol, is becoming somewhat of a celebrity.

Dragonlance is that mudsucking kender weenie (no, please tell us how you really feel), Strum and Kitiara. (But then again, its been a LONG time since I've played DL)

I'm not really sure there are any 'iconics' in the truest sense of the word for the other settings, yet.

Are you talking iconic as in supposed to represent the typical PC? Or iconic as in meant to identify the setting? If we're talking the latter...

Forgotten Realms: Elminster and Drizzt
Ravenloft: Strahd, Azalin, and Van Richten
Dragonlance: The Heroes of the Lance, Lord Soth
Planescape: The Lady of Pain
Mystara/Known World: Bargle
Darksun: The Mul gladiator fellow whose name escapes me at the moment.
Greyhawk: The Circle of Eight

I'm sure I'm missing a bunch, but these are what come to mind when I think of these settings.

There was a thread on this topic not too long ago, or at least it sort of covered this in terms of 1E characters (including Greyhawk).

As for other iconics, for Dark Sun it would have to be the Prism Pentad characters, I'd guess. Dragonlance the Chronicles characters. Planescape- you got me there. Realms- plenty of iconics to choose from, Elminster and Drizzt being the notable top two. A lot of the other settings really don't have much in the way of iconics, though. Even my favorite, Mystara, I couldn't say really has any iconics per se.

Dark Sun: Rikus and Neeva (he's the mul gladiator with the two cahulaks, and she's the human gladiator on the cover of the adventure Freedom).

Don't limit it to 3e iconics. I'm sure Greyhawk had different ones back in the day.
Well in that case, anyone with a named spell in the 1E PHB (Circle of 8 plus a couple) and Vecna, when he was still a lich, before some idiot turned him into a god. Baba Yaga made the rounds quite a bit too, and who can forget Fonkin Hoddypeaks?

And Volo for Forgotten Realms - I mean that guy was always showing up somewhere.

Wayne Reynolds is painting a gatefold cover for the final issue of Dungeon which features all of them, so we'll probably discover more about them then.
