What is your advice?

My husband has been our groups DM for four years now. We had a good group of 4 woman and three men for quite a while...over the last year or so, people seem to let every excuse in the world come between them and playing the game...now we are down to three regulars (including me and my husband, who runs the show) and one or two occassional drifters who are more interested in conversation than the game. Toward the end, it seemed like no two people could agree on a course of action for anything and a couple of people thought they were always in charge of the way thing should go. It got to the point where I would just have my character do things like teleport away in the middle of heavy combat or leave someone lying unconcious until the last possible minute just so they wouldn't have a say in what was going on. I thought about quiting myself lots of times, but I love the game and my husband would be heartbroken if I didn't play, too. How do we avoid the bs and just have a good, fun game session?...paladinwife

Count me as a part of a group of old buddies that still somehow find time to game with many adult responsibilities to hurdle. Our current group does include 2 relative newcomers, but one of those is my brother-in-law and has been gaming with us now for 2 1/2 years. The core of the group is 5 people who have been playing together since about 1988, and 2 of those have been gaming together since circa 1981! So we have a lot of continuity and we are fairly close, i.e. we also get together to do a lot of non gaming activities.

There is no answer for me

I have a group of about 15-20 friends
from which 5-8 players are 'seemingly'
randomly selected for each game that is
run.

So things are always changing, but
they never _really_ change...

Stable group, the core of which has been around for 15 years or so. Recently expanded over the last 4 years by 1 person per year.
