Who is Jeff Ibach?

Nope, not until you asked and I ran a Google search of him. He seems to be a prolific writer doing work for Green Ronin, Troll Lord games and he has his own online magazine for Alternity.

Why do you ask? Are you him and looking to see if anyone has heard of you?

No no, he is a friend of a friend sort of thing. My friend tells me he is "famous", and I was like, "prove it". So he showed me some work he did. So I said to my friend, "I never heard of him on the ENBoards, and if he hasn't been mentioned there, then he isn't famous."

So I wanted to see if anyone here actually heard of him.

Famous..... no. Known in the industry, perhaps.

Famous would be Monte Cook. Known by reputation or infamy (depending on your opinion) by most ENWorlders and other RPG fans and RPG designers.

Famous might be Keith Baker (best known for Eberron but he has done other work in the industry) and Mike Mearls.

Famous to my mind is name recognition by fans/pundits, but 'famous' is subjective and another person's definition may vary. Personally, I never heard of the guy, so I would not consider him 'famous' by any stretch. IMO.

Gary Gygax = Famous
Richard Garfield = Industry Famous
Ed Greenwood = Industry Famous
Monte Cook, Skip Williams, Mike Mearls, Jim Bishop, Clark Peterson, and a host of others all have bits of fame within the industry.

Jeff Ibach = I vaguely remember his name, but I don't know why, or where, or when I might have seen it. It's just that Ibach is not that common.

There are a host of good game designers/writers that I don't recognize their name. There are a bunch that I would recognize their name if I saw it on a book. I think it is difficult to be a game designer and be considered famous. You might become well-known within the industry, and that is a cool achievement, but famous? Probably not.

Back in the early days of EN World, when it wasn't quite the one-stop site it is now, I came across Jeff's website at http://www.dmshaven.freeservers.com/ I remember trading some e-mail messages with him a couple of times... very friendly guy....
I second the link. I know of Jeff and have corresponded with him before, FWIW. I immediately recognized his name, at any rate.

Well, I would immediately recognize "Spencer Cooley" and can correlate the name with the products. However, I am shocked by how few people have heard of the Enchiridion of Mystic Music. It's one of my favorite PDF's and I have it printed out in the binder with my PC. I use it fairly often. (Boy, I bet that is a shock with my screenname.) Still, I am not sure I would qualify you as "famous". Certainly well liked, but not famous. :D
