Who remains from the old world?

Question I have--

When somebody says Role playing game, what do people think of?

Probably D&D. Even people who don't play it.

Anybody disagree?

Yeah, most 'normal' people I've met think something far...kinkier. But then again, I live in California. ;)

Hey, few years back those where the very thoughts people got from word 'roleplaying'. And I live in Finland.

Actually, that was about the least melodramatic post I've seen from Edena in a long time. :)

That doesn't make it non-melodramatic though. Edena's posts tend to run from the low end at "super-melodramatic" all the way up to "hyper-out-of-control over-the-top super-powerful and excessively melodramatic".

I remember Dragon #100 vividly.
(snip)

The cover of issue #100 was made in some special way, and the purple faerie dragon on the cover was not a painting in the normal sense.

Was this the picture that was paper sculpted and then photographed. Purple dragon, white background, an almost 3D feel to it?

Minor Correction

I remember Dragon #100 vividly.
How TSR proudly celebrated the coming of the year 1980, with it's new releases of Unearthed Arcana and Oriental Adventures. Not to mention the celebration of issue #100 itself.

Actually, it was 1985, not 1980. Dragon #100, August 1985.

For info. on product printing dates, go here.

A minor point. But, I remember reading that article, too, and eagerly awaiting the time when I could get my hands on UA and especially OA. Boy, do I feel old. :)

But, I still feel that way when I read about new proucts coming out...
