O.K., nobody's going to address that press release? Not about Bana, but they want Bond to compete with Spider-Man and Neo??? WTF!?

That can only end in disaster, for it means they'll not reverse, but actually amplify the current trend.

I picked someone else- I think they are getting to the stage that they need to go with a no-name.

Sean Bean I must say is a great villian :-)

Bond moves to Ireland.

Sean Bean was born in England.

I would like to see any of the actors in the poll as James bond except Russel Crowe. Can't stand him.

I saw King Arthur this weekend and at the time I thought he would make an excellent James Bond. He has the look.

I am a big Orlando Bloom fan but I think he is just to young maybe in a few years when the new Bond steps down.

I have only seen Eric Bana in Troy so I can't say for sure if he's right for the roll.

As for Mel Gibson he can't play an English hero he makes movies where he kills the English. ;)

*thpppppppppppppppppp*

That was my best raspberry for the "female Bond". And any jerkwater hollywood producer who thinks I'll shell out $8 to see that cardboard Jinx character as the main attraction is off his toffee. Bond love object, no worries. Main character, me's staying at home.

And as much as the "beautiful women running around in tight clothes with guns" franchise is alive and well (La Femme Nikita, Alias, Catwoman -sheesh-, and that other awful show with the genetically enhanced woman), I'll not be paying for it. Ugh. What drivel. Easier to go to a nuddy bar.

If you're going with Chris Rock, make it Samuel L. Jackson instead. At least he's be fun to watch. ;)

"I said, shaken, not stirred, mother :):):):):):)! What's your problem?!"

As for Bond, I don't like ANY of the actors mentioned. Bond should be chosen for look and for style, not for star drawing power. Sadly, I think James Bond may have lost sufficient relevance in the current culture to really attract new fans. A cultured spy who is always in control of a situation is lost over more contemporary images like the Bourne character, or a Riddick-type loner with a darker streak.

Maybe Bond DOES need to return to the Fleming Ideal, because that Bond was I understand a bit darker than the movie depiction.

Not sure about Eric Bana, but well, we'll see it soon enough. :)

p.s. What would people say to a female Bond? Is that too out there?
Wasn't there rumors about a Jane Bond movie starring Demi Moore once... :p

And, of course, the Jinx spin-off, though who knows, what will be after the incoming cat-astrophe this year. ;)

A female Bond would definitely fit to the modern times, tho it would need to be less "traditional", of course, so it would not really be Bond anymore.

@Felix: The original (french) Nikita movie is great and I personally liked Dark Angel (that other show ;), though only the first season, the second was kinda stupid, except for Ms Alba's hair style, which seemed to fit better :p).

Bye
Thanee

Agreed, the French did something to be proud of in the original Nikita. Then Hollywood got their grubby paws on it. Feh.

And yeah, Dark Angel. That's the one. *thbtpppppppppp* :D

Hehehe. The very reason I want Crowe to be Bond.

He could portray Bond in his early career as a Royal Navy officer. But unfortunately, we are hardwired to see Bond only as a cliched gentleman spy.

Actually, he potrayed Banner in Ang Lee's The Incredible Hulk. It's the first time we've heard of Bana.

You say that as if it's a bad thing. ;)

I mean with all due respect, my favorite Bond happens to be Sean Connery. Not even Roger Moore is near his caliber.
