I mean with all due respect, my favorite Bond happens to be Sean Connery. Not even Roger Moore is near his caliber.
Of course not! Larry Niven was a better bond than Roger Moore. Personally, I always liked Timothy Dalton. The Living Daylights has always been my favorite Bond movie, and probably still will be for a long time to come.

If they were making a prequel which I think would be a great idea then yes I see Orlando Bloom in the roll.

I never saw the Hulk movie. The only thing I have ever seen Bana in is Troy. I went to see it because Sean Bean and Orlando Bloom were in it. But Eric Bana stole the movie for me. He was my favorite character.

I don't have a favorite Bond. I have liked them all. I feel that each fit the time frame of the movie they were in. Roger Moore played Bond differently because as he said in an interview he did not think he could pull of Bond the way Connery did.

He told a story about his son who was young and a big Bond fan. His mother brought him to the set one day and the little boy was so exicited that he was going to get to see James Bond.

When he got there he was quiet for a long time and finally asked "where is James Bond?" when he was told that his daddy was Bond he replied " no I mean the real James Bond'.

All we're suggestions on the other thread, except for two. I threw Ewan McGregor ...

I had suggested him in the other thread, unless there was more than one other thread on this.

Eric Bana should do fine as Bond, and is young enough to last a while. It's weird that there is only four years difference between him and Clive Owen and yet Bana looks more than ten years younger to me.

For what it's worth, Dark Horizons is reporting that the Eric Bana thing was just another rumor, and that Bana's agents have denied that he's even been approached for the roll.

Isn't that the move that is un-Bond-like?

I dunno. He reminded me of a character in Flash Gordon. :p

Interesting to see, of the named choices, that Clive Owen leads the way. As for the other choices, well, I've made my points in the other thread about non-British actors playing Bond so that leaves:

Ewan McGregor: too famous... therefore would cost too much to hire. Has also said he doesn't want to commit to another series of films.
Ioan Gruffudd: good actor, but if the Fantasic Four does well, could be committed to that
Jason Isaacs: another good actor but, again, tied to a series of films at the moment (Harry Potter).
Orlando Bloom: like others have said, a little too young (at 27) however, definately one for the future.
Sean Bean: for the same reason that Connery will never play a Bond villain, Bean will never play Bond. Unfortunate as he's another good choice.

BTW, my money (IRL) is on Clive Owen ;)

When I told my sister of the rumors that Orlando Bloom might play Bond, she immediately reacted with disgust. "No way, he looks too much like a girl, and he's got a real sissy-sounding accent."

Can't say that I disagree. :D

Whoops! David Niven. Larry wrote sci-fi.

Nope, it's actually one of the movies that is most Bondlike. Assuming, of course, that you believe Ian Fleming's Bond to be the yardstick by which Bondlike is measured. I suppose if you believe that that circus train nonsense of Octopussy is Bondlike, you'll disagree.

Just like Sean Connery reminded me of a character from Darby O'Gill and the Little People... :p
