Who/What are your campaigns big villains?

1. The Zealots of Orometua
Not a single villain but a bloodthristy expansionist cult of cannibal savages serving the War god Orometua. They are led by Clerics are comprised of Barbarians and use terror and fear to dominant the surrounding Islands.

2. Nifoafi
A half-paraelemental (magma) Ogre Scorcerer currently imprisoned inside a volcano but who is trying to get out via his followers - a group of goblin cultists (okay I like Cults)

3. Lord Vulgus
A Fiendish Liche Pirate (based on Bloth from Pirates of DarkWater) with a crew of Shadows who's ship is a dimensional gate to the 'Realm of Shadow'. He is the last of the Dark Circle - the Agents of the Dark Goddess - and is trying to revive his 'brothers' so that they can plunge the world into enternal Night. (PCs encounters another member of the Dark Circle - Lord Roth, BlackKnight but with the help of the reincarnated First Paladin Micha were able to defeat him (he currently resides inside Micha)

4. Maikitupua
Maikinui and Maikiroa are twin half-fiend Troll scorcerers. They also have the ability to combine into a single being - Maikitupua who is considered the god of Disease and Insanity

5. Lord Autumn
An Erl-King (human raised in the realm of faery and able to change its form) was the big bad in my 17th Century , fairytale inspired setting. He was attempting to take over the Dreams of Children in order to control both the realm of Fae (which is built of Dreams) and the Mortal World. He was stopped by the Half-mortal son of the Greenman, the Toothfairy, A beggar name Old Whistling Tom, a Fairy Godmother, Peter Pumpkineater and a Ghoul named Rotten Eddy.

Also various other bad guys and background powers that the PCs may never meet. The ultimate bad guy (in all but the Lord Autumn campaign) is Firotupua the God of Evil who is locked in the Underworld. Unless something changes - ie the PCs will hopefully one day blunder into something and change the course of the world (but not yet and then again it might never happen)

Hm... mine had several villains....

Silven Nightmantle, a shadow adept, plagued the party the most. He often fought indirectly, taking control of other NPCs and throwing them around as a distraction or as meatshields. At first he had no interest in the party, but because they opposed him on more than one occaision, he sent a team of well trained thugs to capture the group (partially suceeding, only 2 PCs escaped). In the end, the party managed to defeat Silven, turn him to stone, and "lose" him on the ethereal plane using a Leomund's Secret Chest spell.

Ellison Lance is an assassin who works for the Phantoms, my world's primary assination orginizations. Cunning and quick, Ellison once fought the entire party single-handedly (party was around 7th level, 7 of them), managed to capture an important NPC (prompting the party to track him down). The party only defeated him once, but did not kill him. Instead, he traded his freedom for information. Later in the campaign, his respect for the party (partly due to sparing his life) allowed him to moderately assist the party against another villain.

Armathon Enforo (lich, Clr12) was a lich on a mission. The party and himself each sought the same set of magic items, when combined would create a medallion that provided a great deal of power (an uber-magic item, but relatively balanced since most bonuses were small). The party went several rounds with the lich and his undead, and ended up stopping one of his deadly rituals to bring a super-demon into the world. Due to a previous failing, the party actually destroyed the lich, but never knew it (they thought he'd come back later due to phylactery, but there was none).

Varrius Afus (monk/fighter type17), the powerful leader of the Phantoms attempted to persuade the party to join the organization (while the party was under the control of Silven Nightmantle, they obtained a reputation for ruthlessness and efficiency). Free of the mind control, the party turned him down and attempted to gain one of the sought after magic items from him. In a long drawn out battle, Varrius managed to escape, but had to use the magic item as a deversion to get away. Had our campaign lasted longer, he would have returned with a vengeance.

Last, but not least is Ivelan Diamondflower, a "racist" elf who was making a power play to take over several territories. The party was aware of some other conflict in the world, which they were not a part of. The conflict always played in the background, but at the end of the campaign, the party managed to put a stop to Ivelan by imprisoning him in a metal disk at a battle for one of the last "free" cities.

I have several villians, but I'll just list my current favorite (which I owe Bastion Press a big thanks for).

Rictus Kilgrave: vampire clown

The Nazis. I'm GMing Godlike. I believe it unsafe to tell more here, as at least one, probably two or three of my players browse these boards. I can tell who they've killed, though. Thus far, they've bumped off four enemy Talents, including a 14-year-old Hyperpilot. He got snapped through the head with a submachine gun.

Another remarkable kill was Der Hammerschlag, a guy whose punches caused grenadelike explosions. He was torn limb from limb by a shapeshifter turned into a bear.

In future, they'll be meeting the surviving members of the enemy Talent group, plus a few new guys thrown in to round out the group, like this one fellow I created called Faust...

Gee, I'd love to say, but I can't - nobody knows but me, and I aim to keep it that way. Let's just say it involves a number of dark gods and note that I love to play with the fate of countless worlds, shall we?

I've also got the half-orc Genghis Khan, the vampire sorceress Guen and some other people, none of whom are what anyone expects. But they're just sub-villains. Check the comic for details on some of them...

Hobgoblin Clans is the biggest foe as they have the numbers needed for building an army.

Mindflayers for world domination.

The Vanguard which is a secert order (mostly human) of demon worshippers for plots. They hunt down items/spells that could bring demons into the world.

Maybe, JUST MAYBE you should have put a (MY PLAYERS STAY OUT!) attachment to this thread.:D

And BTW, it IS known to the players, and was made VERY obvious when Angcuru&Company spotted and killed several dwarves who were aiding the warriors of the Iron-Clad Throne(whom we refer to as Dragon Warriors, due to their insignia, and the fact that we don't know what they're actually called) in the sacking&burning of Arboreon.

And WHY did you not mention Brei Dhala? I have a big grudge against that bastard...

Yeah, but you haven't even gotten to see when I get REALLY evil.

And yes, I should have mentioned Brae Dalla. Brae is the Warmaster of Calvadia, commander of the knight legion "Desolations Angels", and wielder of the farun(false sword) known as Deceiver, which was created to strip the Black Swords, Stormbrand and Balefire, of their powers. In a battle in the hollows of the world, Brae humiliated Angcuru, taking Stormbrand from him; it has not yet been recovered.
