Whoa... "almost good" save progression in D&D

Check out the Power of Faerûn Errata on WotC site. It changes only one thing, the Herald prestige class. Despite the fact that the Herald is supposed to be a variant Loremaster, there is one significant difference: the Herald has an "almost good" Reflex save progression, starting with +1 and ending up with +7 at 12th level. What's up with that? Was a 1-point difference between the saves really that important? 1+(level/2) vs 2+(level/2)? Discuss.

Weird.. Looks to me like their attempt at a mid-level save... Maybe we'll be seeing errata to the errata?

they did that with the errata pertaining to polymorh and the "naked druid" issue. Errata to the errata the first day the errata was posted.
