Why are some monsters not in the SRD?

I've noticed some monsters, like Eladrin, that are in the MM are not in the SRD. Why is this?

Because WoTC decided not to relesase them.

Some of them are WotC property and are not part of the d20 open gaming license.

Eladrin are in the SRD. Check under B for Bralani. (not sure what the other Eladrin is called, so it may not be in there).

I thought they were. It's 'iconic' stuff like beholders and yuan-ti that are left out.
