Why are they waiting til June?

After carpetbombing Gencon last year with hype, for what it's worth now it looks like WotC won't even be at this year's Gencon (albeit out of their control). It's just ironic to me.

Its just making me angry with suspense, and because of that, if my books don't arrive on the day.... People are going to die. And it will not be quick, and it will beyond the realms of normal pain throughout there torture....

Does this mean the conventional wisdom has shifted from "They're not giving us enough information! Won't someone think of the children!" to "They gave us to much information! My eyes! My eyes!"

H1 will be out in less than a month. The core books will be out two weeks after that. Now is the calm before the storm. If you're feeling burnt out, maybe now's a good time for a picnic and some frisbee.

The game will be ready when you get back.

(If you play lots and lots of frisbee.)

I guess I'm okay with waiting on the book until the stars align and bookstores everywhere have the appropriate number of cases of books. It's the dribbling of info about the new system that's really starting to piss me off.

W/3ed they gave us enough info to drown in every month for a year. Didn't that work out for them? Didn't that create amazing buzz? Surely they don't think they lost any sales because of the info released, do they?

We're just over a month from the release. It's maddening.

And they're saying they're going to have the SRD up on June 6th; why not now?

It seems likely that the SRD is going to be along the lines of:

"Legalese, legalese, legalese. You may pages x, y, q-r, and j, except for the sidebars and any product identity. More legalese."

I wouldn't count on the SRD giving much if any solid info.

1. You don't want your product to be released slowly. Imagine if they started selling books now, but only enough for one out of every ten people to get their order. It would be a nightmare.

Isn't that how they released MtG in the olden days?

maybe distribution

as they want to make it a world wide release some of the time might go into theipping the newly printed books al over the wotld in time for the release date.

When they released magic in the olden days they were also a company of a handful of people, with personal money pooled to print it, in a corner booth at Gencon where almost nobody knew who they were.

Things have changed a little since then.

For my area (Cincinnati) I am not expecting much. RPGA is here is not very strong, and the Nati has not had a large convention in 15 years-so how much love are we really going to get???

Ian

I know at least a dozen people if not more involved in the RPGA in the Cincy area as well as a convention that's ran at least 3-4 years now every fall (though with LG winding down not sure if it will continue). There is a lot of stuff going on in Ohio and SW Ohio. You just have to look a little harder.
