Why aren't Beguilers Crafty?

Beguilers do not have the Craft skill. What's up with that?

Every PHB class gets the skill (even rogues and wizards, of which a Beguiler is a mix). Beguilers are also INT-based but the WotC dieties gave them the WIS-based Profession skill and not the INT-based Craft skill?!

I would have thought it a mere editorial mistake, but the Knight (again from the PHBII) is also lacking this universal skill. Is this a double error or a new design theory by the Hasbro boys? I'm making a Beguiler and I wanted to sew my disguises and brew my poisons. It seems such things are child's play to the Barbarian and Sorceror, but beyond the ken of a benighted Beguiler

I could sort of see it if they were going with the "beguilers don't make stuff...they trick other suckers into making stuff for them and then nick it". And maybe Knights would be too proud to be mere craftsmen.

But the former only works if you ignore the fact that Rogues can makes stuff. :)

Mind you, if one had a "PHB II classes only" game, that would be an interesting restriction.

I'd give it to them, not sure why they'd be lacking it. I think the guys writing the skills just weren't paying close enough attention. :p

I'd consider it an error, and even if not one, definitely worth a house rule.
Me too.

...mostly. Sometimes it looks as if the authors of new splatbooks are playing a bit with some of the conventions.
