Why can't I kill my pc's. Just once?

Harmon - I don't think the OP really wants to kill his PCs but some more challenging encounters for the party would be nice. Wiping out a dragon in one and half rounds is hardly exciting (beyond the 'Ha! It rolled a 1' that is).

Ya, I got that, I was just being my usual self (an ass :p ). I guess my sarcasm didn't come off right.

BTW- Coyote6 that was my idea, she used it when I realized that Javin had 4 hp less then max at his level (obtained legally by table/campaign rules), and I wanted to challange him to the same obstical I was trying to over come.

Wow, I'm glad my DM isn't some nutcase whose only purpose is to try and ruin our fun. Sorry if I'm being rude, but the original poster sounds like some chump with a power problem. "Oh, I can't KILL the PC's, I must be doing something wrong."

Please, for the sake of those of us who aren't murderous midgets, stop playing the game.

I had great luck killing PCs with a half-fiend Fighter (Harecules from Lost City of Gaxmoor) ca 10 CRs higher than the party (CR 20 vs ca 10th level) - he could go ethereal & step out of the wall behind the PCs, then power attack for ca 150 dmg and cleave through several in one round... The constant PC slaughter really messed up my campaign. I think your problem is you're using a semi-'balanced' scenario, get something from a 3rd party publisher who doesn't give 2 hoots about ELs, or make up your own. :)

I dont' know how to quote but this :
Also you're not using your monsters to their fullest advantage. Cleric casting Harm? pfft! That is so 3.0. Nowadays, my villain clerics cast Blasphemy with bead of karma and orange ioun stone to paralyse the entire party. I managed a few TPKs without trying until the entire party consisted only of clerics and druids.

by beaver1024 was just great.

I don't know why you can't kill them, seems as though they are really good. I try to use multi-dimension battles if I want to stop my PC's or wear out their magics they have been gathering. Putting them in a situation where they think they are fighting a big baddie but really it is just the guy using up their str and magic till the real guy comes out.

Also know that your monsters don't have to fight and die. They can fight and run, this works great if you want to weaken or kill PCs by having them deal with that 'loose end'.
