For those who don't use material components, I ask you this: What if a mage in your game is stripped of his material components (i.e., thrown into jail) - can they still cast their spells completely naked??

In my view, this is a good thing. D&D's already got enough micromanaging and recordkeeping.

Actualy, back when I ran that world, that was a skill most wizards learned themselves. Not every spell was tattooed by a long shot, of course, but the arms, hands, and legs were typicly tattooed with the wizards most essential spells.
