D&D General why do we lack a canine race?

Do we need one?
Need? We don’t need cat-people, so of course not.

Want for business reasons? I bet there’s a market for wolf-people based on furry art counts, but I doubt it would translate into sales.

Want in my home game? Sure. But I could probably find an okay homebrew with 20 minutes of googling or just make one.

Legend
I think cats are more common simply because their features translate better to attractive human features. Throw some whiskers, cat ears, or :3 on a human face and they look cute, do the same with dog features and you end up with something more like Goofy.

That said the 2E dragon magazine with a giant pile of dog people was a pretty good issue.
