I voted "Other".

When I backed my only Kickstarter project it was mostly value with a sprinkling of patronage. With the project being more than one year behind schedule and the author going silent after some heads-up messages and lots of excuses, the value didn't arrive at my house. This was a calcutlated risk, so not much harm done, only shattered hopes.

Any other kickstarter I might support will be strictly patronage: nice if I get something from it but not necessary for my goof feeling.

What I don't do is Kickstarters of "big" companies, i.e., Kickstarter as a pre-order platform. Most of the stuff I'd be interested in is rather high-priced plus high delivery costs. It's much better to wait for the item and order it via mail.

I voted for Patronage. I backed 3 KS and 2 of them fall into that category.
I also backed Numenera but I think there was no doubt, that that KS will get funded, so I believe that would fall under the "other" category.

It really depends on the project. The Reaper KS was because it was just too good of a deal. Most of the times is because I like supporting a product early and maybe get nifty exclusive items. I supported the EN Word KS because I liked the idea of "investing" in and supporting a community where I spend a lot of time.

I tend to back for Patronage, as there are a lot of cool projects out there offering things that I just wouldnt be exposed to otherwise. I think I always consider the value of a project as well. I also like the excitement of seeing a project grow as well as the general camraderie that can develop between backers.

Patronage. I back Kickstarters when they are for something I want, that might not get made otherwise.

If I'm pretty sure the Kickstarter will fund without me, then usually it is because I want some of the stretch goals, which might not be available any other way, so Exclusivity as well.

I do it for Exclusivity. I'm a slut for the rares.

I am actually very surprised this attitude is not reflective of more of the respondents. I have backed Kickstarters in the past where I had no interest in the final product, just for the rewards (Pathfinder MMO, I'm looking at you).

Primarily patronage - I think KS is a great way to foster good ideas. I have a secondary goal of good value; I'm backing the good idea because I want a copy of it at a decent price.

Value. I know the value of my dollars and middlemen tend to disagree with my opinion on that matter. You cut the middleman out and I'll bust out my wallet.

Look at self aware / self disparaging Alzrius post was. Many folks who feel that way won't admit to it.
