Why does the paladin multiclassing rule exist?

On that note, did anyone else see the April 1 prestige class on the WotC site?

That one was pretty good, actually. It wasn't labeled as one of their April Fool's jokes.

I may wind up playing one at some point.


Seeing the playtest documents will be quite interesting.

EDIT: Maybe it was sorta labeled as an April Fools joke 'in the spirit of April Fool's Day. Meh.
