Why doesn't EnWorld have a "Search" function?

I've wondered this for a while, but is there any particular reason that EnWorld doesn't have a nice little searchbox that searches the forums? Perhaps one that can (at the user's option) target specific forums? And if isn't a reason, why is there no such search tool?

You can do a search on google using "site:enworld.org", which doesn't use up as much (if any?) of ENWorld's bandwidth. It's a lot less elegant than the VBulletin search you get from a community supporter account, but it works okay.

One of the main reasons why it's a community supporters account feature is that it was, from what I hear, chewing up alot of space, bandwidth or something like it. Basically, it got too expensive for everyone to have it and was choking up the site, making it lag I think.

I believe processor cycles were the resource most hit by having search widely available, but yes. It was darned expensive, so they had to cut it back.

I'd just like to chime in to say that having search is the greatest thing about being a community supporter.

Dazzle your friends by quickly responding to requests for obscure bits of ENW knowledge!

Amuse yourself during slow periods by seeing how many times "attack [of] opportunity" has been discussed in the Rules forum!

Use your powers for evil by searching up an ancient thread and raise it from the dead by responding to it four years after it was posted! Muuuuuhahahahahah! *lightning flashes, thunder booms*

Yeah, it's up there near "continued existence of ENWorld". ;)
