Why doesn't the Draconic Aura feat get more attention?

I had a halfling sorcereress that had Draconic Heritage and Draconic Aura: Power. She took almost entirely spells without saves, much more battlefield control than damage dealer, so spell resistance was her only real impediment to affecting foes.

As a side note, I always thought that someone with Blue Dragon Lineage, Skirmish (using Unseen Seer from Complete Mage to advance it after skirmish is picked up), and the Magic of the Dragonheart (sorc 2 spell from Dragon Magic) would end up being a lot of damage that didn't have a save (just required a ranged touch, so they could even crit.)

A bonus to what? To understand this feat, you need more than the feat. You need to own (or at least have read) Dragon Magic. That's a fairly obscure splatbook, and apparently it requires you to be part dragon and have Charisma (so, sorceror type stuff), which isn't necessarily everyone's cup of tea.

I suspect bunches of people have seen the feat, but assumed you needed to be a half-dragon and didn't know what the bonus applies to anyway, so they stopped paying attention to it.

I also suspect DMs don't like fast healing on PCs. Even a bucket of wands of cure light wounds costs money. Said feat combo might get banned a lot, assuming the DM in question is aware of the combo.
It does NOT require being anything draconic (The Heritage line in the online source is not in the book) and the CHA 11 is for the secondary feat (Dragontouched) that boosts the Draconic Aura, and does NOT require anything beyond having a CHA of 11.

I guess I assume that people who post builds on forums are those crazy types who've memorized every book (As I aspire to do) and I expect a Fast healing feat would appeal to more people. Since it's only up to halp your HP, It's good but not game-breaking, in my opinion.

1. It's a pretty esoteric source. I don't see a ton of talk about any of the Dragon-y late 3.5 books, really.
2. Most people don't like spending feats to improve other party members.
3. Its usefulness is largely dependent on you having a lot of allies who are regularly near you, which is not a given.
4. It requires a modicum of Charisma. People, esp people who post builds on message boards, tend to dump CHA.

That being said, I agree that it's not as well-recognized as it should be.
To receive the Dragon Aura- Vigor (Fast Healing 1), you do not need CHA. You only need to be Character level 3. The feat grants the Fast Healing to yourself, and all allies within 30'.

@RUMBLETiGER I may be unaware of a variety of Dragon Auras. I had assumed they were only in Dragon Magic, but it does not have a "Vigor" aura. Where are other auras published?
Players Handbook II, where Dragon Auras were first described.

Fair enough, I haven't read it in a while.

The usefulness of that kind of limited healing is highly campaign-dependent, but like I said I also find myself wondering why the auras don't see more use.

Page 86 mentions sources for Draconic Auras, not Auras themeselves. One of them is Dragon Shaman, which has the Vigor Aura.

The bottom right starts the "Aura Effects" list. Under the "Dragon Shaman" entry, it specifically states that Dragon Shaman can learn any of the auras presented on Pg. 87 instead of the ones presented in the PHB2, but it makes no mention of the feat being able to select Dragon Shaman specific auras.

I completely missed the Auras on page 87, lol. The feat says "See page 86". Page 86 primarily lists Aura sources, actual Auras on on page 87. I'm not saying that that they didn't mean those Auras on page 87, but it's totally possible they also meant Auras from other sources. For me it's clear that the feat simply point's you to where you can learn what an Aura is, not that you're limited to only those Auras on those pages.

I would agree if they didn't make a point of saying that other classes get additional auras from their class and can swap out their existing auras for the new ones. Personally I don't really have any issues with allowing people to take auras from any source, but I don't think it's the intent of the feat to allow a single feat to gain class abilities (at least not the better ones). The ones listed on page 87 are more tame than the ones listed under dragon shaman (instead of fast healing you get DR 1/magic, which is not nearly as good as fast healing at half HP, except maybe a lower levels before DR/Magic becomes pretty much useless). I don't think it's a game changer in anyway, it's just a nice boost that kicks on and off at half HP. Personally I think Energy Resistance is a nicer use of the feat, but that's just me and my often low Reflex characters lol
