If you're taking play testers for Chill, I'd be interested, too. I remember playing it as a teenager and loving it. How do we sign up?

Right now the best way to sign up to be a playtester is to go to: http://www.chillrpg.com and sign up with the Yahoo Group. There's not much else there right now, although I should have at least a Chill character sheet up there soon.

LAYOUT, LAYOUT, LAYOUT.

Im going to have to get on the Pulp Heroes on this one. I love the work of the Pulp Heroes from polyhedron and considering their space and time limitations they did an excellent job. Its a great place to start and the V for Victory mini game adds to the Pulp Heroes game. Weve House Ruled the things we dont like and use guns from D20 Cthulhu. Its all worked out great.

FK had some interesting story bits but overall it was jammed together with out a true understanding of how the rules worked and interacted with each other.

My biggest gripe was the layout and over all design. Im a graphic designer and a whiney one at that so I pay real close attention to how the book looks. I liked the cover and was exicited to see what they had to offer and it just fell flat. Theres just an annoying lack of a truely cohesive game that set off by bad layout and design. The illustrations arent the best although I do love the Weird Science one with the crazy robot with the floating brain.

In the future OWC strive to gain a true sense of all the rules before you start slapping them together and pay to have someone that knows what they are doing to lay out your work!

Keep trying to put out the best product you can.

I won't comment on the rest of Benedict's post, everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

Hyrum, I just gotta say, I've read many of your posts here and elsewhere, and I am very much impressed with your ability to be a gentleman even when faced with criticism. It's a rare thing on RPG boards.

Did I read somewhere that you guys are talking about updating FK to use the d20 Modern rules?

Speaking of which...wouldn't most of the Pulp Hero classes make good advanced classes for d20 Modern?

Thanks! It's not easy, and sometimes I want to reach through the monitor and throttle someone, but what does that get me? :D

Dave and I have talked about doing either a print or PDF release of FK for D20 Modern. We both really like the rules, and now that FK's been out for almost a year, we can take the criticism and feedback we've gotten and make the book much tighter.

However, we've got a ton on our plate right now (Countdown, the other books in the Vergo line: Cities, Magic, Religion, Rebellion, plus our big release of the year, Chill) and any revision of FK is off in the future. (Although if someone were to do a "fan conversion" I wouldn't mind taking a look at it.) :)

I didn't address this in my previous post and I think it bares mentioning.

While I like some of the ideas and execution in Pulp Heroes, none of it is OGL, so it's off limits unless we got a special license from WotC.

Game Support?

Hi guys,

Hyrum since were on the subject sort of, what kind of support is OWC going to have for FK?

I saw the Paris book on your website as well as above you state:

"We also realize that the Weird Science rules are incredibly light (they're more like GM advice), so we've got a complete guide to Weird Science, full of expanded (and new) rules, and a *ton* of equipment planned titled "Terwilligers Technological Emporium".

Where can we find that? is that as a download?

How are the Vergo books going to work into FK and your existing lines?

Just wondering

Paris slated for an April/May release. It's in layout now and should be on schedule. In the same "series", Manchester: City of Wonder, and Berlin: Rise of the Reich have gone through editing and are now waiting for art notes and for art to be assigned.

TTE doesn't exist yet. :) We've got an outline, and had lined up a freelancer, but that fell through. Expect to see it sometime in the fall.

The Vergo line are generic books that cover just about every genre possible with D20. They're written with standard D20 (not d20 Modern) rules in mind, but can be used in fantasy, pulp, modern, or sci-fi games. Mercenaries should be out soon. (it's at the printers, and the proofs have been approved, it should arrive in our warehouse around March 12th)

I just snagged a copy of the FK book and I think that OWC did a great job with it. The Pulp Heroes mini game is what got me interested in getting FK (being a big fan of Pulps as it is) and, IMO, I think that it actually is a bit more versitile. I love the idea of the World Crime League and the classes and prestige classes are great ... plus their supporting their product, especially with the GM Codex (which I can't wait to see). Overall a great product that I'll use quite often ... and if there is a d20 Modern conversion, I'll snag that as well ;) If they do this good with FK, I can't wait till Chill hits shelves :)
