Why is The Book of Exalted Deeds for Mature Readers?

Psion, it's a marketing stunt, that's all.

Oh, I totally agree.

There is nothing offensive in the BoED that is more offensive than the Monster Manual.

By your logic, they should have put a WARNING! on the MM. It does contain racy pictures. Hell, it deals with Demons and Devils. Demons and Devils are more offending to religious folks than Stygmata.

Trainz, do you care to name for me a statement or logical principle or judgement criteria I have stated in this thread that implies anything of the sort? Tell me where I say anything that implies if it talks about religion or evil spirits it should have a warning label.

Good luck lookin, cause there ain't one. You seem to have confused me with someone else.

The sole point of my participation in this thread has been to dispute the notion that "mature adiences" statements are not ever helpful to anyone.

Dealing with religious issues is not a matter of maturity, it's a matter of personal values.

So? Those are personal values that some segment of the audience will have, which inherently makes it useful for those people to make buying decisions.

. . . I -- and other readers -- find important. . . . Notices of mature content were appreciated . . . you don't personally find it useful.
Like I said, I don't think the discussion on this point will be very fruitful. You see them as useful, I see them as evidence of caving to the histrionics of "moral" alarmists.

And neither of us is going to change the other's opinion. So unless it's to get the last word, what's the point of continuing?
