Why isn't there an SRD for Star Wars RPG?

I don't want to spend all that money catching up to the Star Wars system. The SRD convinced me to buy d20 Modern, and I'm sure it'd convince me to buy Star Wars, if it was available online. :(

Most likely because everything about Star Wars itself is still the Intellectual Property of Lucas Co. Ltd., and if they bothered to remove every single SW reference, then it would 95-99% just like the other SRDs up there I imagine, save for tiny things like the W/VPs and such.

Basically, they'd have to gut way too much. You wouldn't be able to use the name "Star Wars" in such an SRD.

They've talked about releasing a "d20 future" supplement for d20 Modern next year. I'm sure that would have the parts of SW that can be made open in it.

I basically want the core rulebook (revised) and the alien anthology (to be distinguished from the ultimate A.A., which is more about playable races than monsters and mechanics) to mine it for stuff to add to my mega-mod halfway-between-"realistic"-GURPS-and-d20 variant I've been working on in my head for so long. (I want to have a game set in early renaissance times, with low-power spells, blackpowder weapons, and diminished hit points.)

For this, I want the class rules and features from the core rulebook, and the monster categories from the Alien Anthology. But everyone is selling them at Very Good to Mint condition at anywhere from 70% to 100% of cover price, when Fair or Good (at under 50% of cover price :) ) would work for me.

Personally, I just want the Vitality Point/Wound Point Health System released as OGC. The rest I can derived from the SRD and avoid using exact Star Wars rules material.

Just a note....I've got both the AA and the UAA...the UAA has everything the AA has, and more. If you're going to get an Alien book, get the UAA. DEFINATLY worth it.

Almost everything. No Hoojibs in the UAA *grumble, grumble*, and the UAA doesn't have the creature rules and examples that the AA does. (Though a briefer version of the creature rules made it to the Revied core rulebook.)

Still, I agree. The UAA suits my purposes far better.

*GASP!* I didn't notice the Hoojibs were gone! Noooooooooo!

...alright, I'm over it. :D As for the creatures rules/examples/etc those are going to end up in the book Ultimate Adversaries that will be released....eventually...

They were the first thing I looked for. (The second and third were Nagai and Zeltrons, which are in the book, so I still like it.)

Which is good. I'm much happier with the alien book being a big fat juicy alien book, instead of trying to double as a monster manual.

No matter how much I like the Zeltron..I can't take them seriously...too many years of being a Macross fan. Brings up images of giant species of warriors instead of what they are. :D
