Why no love for WotC? (and why now?)

To me (my opinion only) the industry (WotC leading the way) focuses on "what books will sell the most", not necessarialy what is good for the GAME itself.

The counter argument to that, of course, is that if they didn't make things that sold the most, they couldn't have the staff and production values they do, and the game would then suffer because of it. :)

WWGS annouced a few days ago that it shall no longer publish Zir'An due to sales performing well under expectations. The game's creators may continue to seek publication on their own. Pendragon v5, or an update about it, should be released at GenCon this weekend. However, their similiar relationship with Necromancer Games and Malhavoc Press shall continue.

Link please, as their recent press releases have all stated the opposite. Not saying that you're making anything up, just that I can find no evidence of said announcement.

As an aside, the reasons you stated are exactly why WWGS, according to Bruce Baugh, has released Ravenloft and Gamma World back to WotC. Maybe you have the news mixed up?

Edit: Never mind. Took me almost all day, but I finally found where it was mentioned. No 'official' announcement by WWGS, at least not to the public, but I found it.

I can just imagine the conversation around the table:

Player: I took 43 seconds to say my monologue, the DMG says I should get 300 xp. I'm over the 30 second mark listed on page 57.

DM: Oh yeah, you're right. But you were talking about how you disliked the particular color of your horse.

Player: Doesn't matter. The DMG doesn't say that the monologue has to be about anything in particular.

DM: * grumble *
