Unearthed Arcana Why UA Psionics are never going to work in 5e.

Are you seriously arguing that humans in the game don't act like humans, because D&D? Because if you are, then every single person that I've ever seen roleplay a human PC has done it wrong.

I'm just assuming that humans in the game act similar to humans outside of the game.

And how exactly are you saying humans behave? According to the arguments you present here, I would expect every person with a bachelor's degree to have studied petroleum engineering, because that's the major that gives you the most power (in terms of earning potential).

But that doesn't seem to be the case.

In fact, I only know a single person with a degree in petroleum engineering. (He's a real estate developer, if you're curious.)

But elves, Dwarves, goblins, halflings (the list goes on) aren't human , Max.
I'm not saying that they are. Those races are unnecessary to what I am saying. Humans dominate the vast majority of game settings.

As for those races, though, we can only play them as if they are human with whatever "other" traits we imagine for them. Nobody human can truly play an elf as an elf, because they aren't an elf. Our real world experiences color how we play other fantasy races.

Politics gives the most power in this world. I'd say that 99% of Americans(more probably) know at least a little bit(cantrips) about politics, because of the impact in their lives. Only a few get to high levels(Congress, Governorships, etc.)

But our real world expeirences don't play into how people would approach a difficult field of learning, such as magic.

And most settings don't seem to have human majorities "historically". In fact, I think humans are a foot note in Faerun's history for a long time, and most human kingdoms seem to my eye (just based off the few population things I've seen before) to have substantial minorities of all races (around 40% in a lot of cases I've seen)

But if you want to have your cake and eat it too

Most people know far too little about politics, especially world wide.

Heck, I'd say the majority of Americans don't even know what Gerrymandering is, and that is despite it coming up in the news multiple times during election cycles. And that is a pretty basic part of the political game.

Hence, cantrip level.

Gerrymandering is at least 3rd level ;)

In your increasingly weird attempts to defend this thesis, this is the nuttiest thing you've offered yet. I think I'm going to step away now. Slowly and carefully, making to make no sudden movements with my hands, and speaking in a calm, soothing voice.
