No, not Hackmaster D20... Knights of the Dinner Table D20.

The only races would be human sub-varients: Slacker (Like Bob), Geek (Brian), Educated, Perpetual Newbie, Tough Guy, etc.

Classes would include: Power Gamer (Bob and Dave), Role-Player (Sara), Dungeon Master (BA), Rules Lawyer (Brian), Method-Actor (Newt... Ok, he isn't, strictly speaking, a Knight, but rather a Black Hand, but still), etc.

Prestige Classes would include: Old Skewl Player (Nitro and Pete), Game Store Owner/Employee (Pete, Bob), Knight of the Dinner Table, Black Hand, Gamer for Hire, Amature Game Developer (BA), LARPer...

Adventures would include just living in the wacky world of KoDT, thwarting the DM's latest death trap, suviving a run-in with LARPers (Or being them!), steam-tunnel adventures, dealing with angry parents, and more!

Well? Am I totaly off my rocker, or does anyone else see potential here?

Now wait a minute, didn't Eric Noah once refer to you as a "damn handsome man"? Makes sense to me....

Lol. This sounds like a pretty kewl idea. Of course, the campaign setting would be Muncie and you'd have to include info on the town and a map! It would have locations like Hawg Waller's, The Games Pit, Gaming Dick's, Pizza-a-go-go, BSU, BA's house, etc. Lol you could have encounter tables for the various locations (like Colonel Prowler at BA's house). And for combat you'd have things like groin kick and "fist-full of four-siders".

Heh if I had more people in my gaming circle that read KODT I might do something like this myself. You should mention this to the people at Kenzer. They seem to be pretty cool about stuff like this (heh I know you prolly aren't thinking of publishing this, but they might get a kick out of it...:p )

Muncie is one of the most boring places on earth. Then again, it does have a mall and a FLGS (the Wizard's Keep is having a 20% off sale! On everything! Go!). But you'd have to include rules about the probability of getting a parking ticket on campus (about 80% with modifiers), and how badly you damage your car getting from place to place with all the potholes, etc.

A Roleplaying game where you play people playing a roleplaying game.

Crazy :)

It's been done before:

Dream Park by R. Talsorian (based on the Dream Park novels by Larry Niven & Steven Barnes), 1992.

You can play people who are playing characters in a game in Dream Park.
