Wild Shaping Monks

Verifying: a monk/druid, when wild-shaped, retains monk abilities like improved speed, etc. Speed is the one I'm least certain about- would it apply to swim speed if he wild-shaped into a fish, or fly speed if a bird? Fast movement is Ex, so I think so.

Since you retain Ex abilities derived from class levels (IDHMBIFOM, so I'm going off memory here), I think he would retain the improved speed.

That's what I thought, too. Thanks.

A followup: what are "elemental qualities"? They are referenced in the SRD, but not defined, and I don't have my books handy. I vaguely remember no critical hits and immune to poison.

Good you brought that up, I'll eventually have to look into that matter, too. I'M playing a gestalt monk/egoist, and metamorphosis will be added ASAP (though it will be a while as we're just level 2 right now)

Isn't fast movement only Ex to a certain point, after which it becomes Su? Or did that change?

Table 3-10's Unarmored Speed Bonus is referred to as Fast Movement (Ex) on page 41 of the PHB. It also says nothing about it ever becoming supernatural, and that the extra speed is an enhancement bonus. So, it seems the supernatural speed part from 3E has been changed in 3.5E.

Guess they thought it's not a big difference anymore whether your speed is 20000ft of 30000 ft per round.
