One thing that I'm glad to see about 3.5E is that there will be more attention given to Wilderness Encounters in the DMG.
However, it brings up a sore point with me. In MM2 for the original AD&D, there were lists of monsters sorted by climate and terrain type; these lists exist in the 3E DMG for MM1...
...but they don't appear in this form for any other Monster collection I possess (currently MM2, BoVD, Tome of Horrors, MoF, PsiHB).
I've spent several hours recently compiling the individual monster entries into one big list of monsters sorted by climate and terrain types.
It's been an enlightening process - the divisions of climate and terrain types in 3E are exceptional (Cold, Temperate and Warm climates; Forest, Hill, Desert, Plains, Marsh, Mountain and Underground terrains). A few monsters often encountered in dungeons are not actually placed in the Underground terrain type... (alas, my lists are at home, so I can't double check at the moment. Certainly some dragon types are of that sort!)
I was just wondering if anyone has had these experiences; or if I've been stupid and a great Climate/Terrain Monster Sorter already exists for all WotC products?
Cheers!
