Will AI replace Dungeon Masters?

Yeah, but... that's not... a ttrpg.

Why make an AI participant, DM or player? A lot of people don't have the people to play with, the time to play, maybe they suffer from social anxiety, maybe they just want to play around, maybe they want to explore a mechanic, maybe like solo roleplayers they just enjoy toying with mechanics and creating stories.

Maybe people just enjoy different things, and that's awesome?

All of these needs can be fufilled by better tools, like video games. I also feel a video game like Rogue Trader is more TTRPG than whatever AI-led game can be. I did test a bit on AI Dungeon when this was just a novelty and before we learned how bad gen AI is in terms of plagiarism and energy consumption and it was REALLY bad. From what I heard of few youtubers who tested it that way, Chat GTP is awful at runnign the games because it is designed to tell people what they want to hear, so it folds like a wet paper towel when you want to do anything. I mean, I'm sure people who just want to abuse the game and insta-win through crap like Bastion rules and think all toxic player behavior is DM's fault for not giving that player the world on a silver platter will love it, but I don't care for opinion of such people.

Seriously, just play a video game, it will be better than this sorry excuse of a "ttrpg".
