Will Eberron be a fully supported setting?

The fact that Turbine is using Eberron as the setting for the the MMORPG D&D game currently in development is a really good sign for Eberron.

Hmmm, I didn't realize that. I agree, though -- that's what Eberron probably needs at this point, is to saturate the market with setting books, novels, computer games, CCGs; you name it.

Blasphemy!

I'll buy Eberron whether its the New Coke of D&D or not.
Same here. :)

I'm tired of settings that look the same. If I want classic D&D, I don't need to buy another setting for that (although I'm still on the fence about Kalamar -- I might pick it up anyway) I need something that's fresh and different. I'm also buying Iron Kingdoms sight unseen (if it ever actually arrives).
I agree most of the setting out their seem to do little for me, at least not enough to merit buying them... I love my Midnight though. :)

I think Eberron has a good chance, if it's hyped the way it looks like it will be, and if the material is actually good. We'll have to see, I guess.
It does have a good chance, never said other wise, and it will need it as WoTC isn't that patience. Most of the campaign site runner ups that I have seen look to be very good and worth buying. :)

Also, I actually liked New Coke. [sigh] Now, I drink Mountain Dew, Dr. Pepper, Vernor's and water. I'll buy Eberron whether its the New Coke of D&D or not. I'm tired of settings that look the same. The biggest problem I see with Eberron is the shear number of setting out at this time and the new ones in the works, Iron Kingdoms, The Deep, Greenwoods' new one. WotC is counting on their return buyers, which there are a lot of, the other settings are niches.

I suspect that actually doesn't impact the majority of the market, who are in general, probably relatively unaware or unconcerned with d20 products. I think enworlders are a bit skewed in favor of third party publishers, while the typical D&D guy on the street probably considers D&D and Wizards of the Coast to be synonymous (sic?).

Coke or New Coke, your not drinking what was the original coke. That's long gone. Coke Classic is a pale imitation of the original.

And as far as the new setting, I honestly don't think it will catch on. Personally I think that while the art work is good, I just don't like it's subjects. I just don't think that the setting is that good either, from what little I can see. But maybe something will change my mind when I see the whole product.

True but at least it's street legal...

The thing that got my curiosity up is that the ones not chosen of the finals 11 most seem to be very unique and interesting… Maybe that means that Eberron is more of the atypical fantasy, but if it was atypical fantasy they where wanting then why choose so many others as the final 11 that were not atypical. Hopefully this means Eberron is more ground breaking than the rest…

Eberron looks horrible. I am not certain why anyone would buy it. If I wanted something as cheesy as Dino-riders, then I would contract with my 5 year old cousin and get him to write the setting.

Details?

Where is the hype that everyone keeps mentioning? I saw the concept art in Dragon, but didn't see anything particularly ground-breaking. I mean, does anyone really know what it is about this setting that distinguishes it from anything we've already seen? Psionics? Dark Sun had psionics a-plenty. Dinosaurs? Seriously, does anyone know?

I think I've figured out what Eberron's main "schtick" is, and I think it will be cool, though perhaps a challenge for new DMs to convey the proper mood.
