Will the D&D Minis price hike affect your buying habits?

How will the 30% price hike (if true) affect your D&D Minis buying

  • Never bought them before. Still won't!

  • I'll spend the same amount of money, just settle with less minis.

  • I'll buy the same amount of minis, and spend more money doing it.

  • I'll scale back my buying. Less money and less minis.

    Votes: 22 23.7%
  • I'll stop buying them at altogether except for the occasional single I want or need.

    Votes: 7 7.5%
  • I'll never buy another one again.

Shoot. I've been wanting to buy more D&D minis (I just have the starter set), but haven't because I'm broke (or broke-ish). I keep meaning to. But now, I think I'll just forget about it.

It won't affect me, I haven't bought many anyway. If the quality increases I will. I really wish there was going to be a BIG BOX 'O GOBLINS. :(

(start hijack)

Where do you store all of them? I keep mine on an open bookcase. I have 300 and I can't store them so I can see them and get to them.

(end hijack)

I currently have them in various boxes with foam inserts for the most part. Alsom, many of them are simply wrapped in bubble wrap and are also boxed. I think overall there are about 20 or 30 boxes of various sizes conatining most of them. I moved into a new home last April and have as yet been unable to unpack most of them (just the "in progress" minis are out of their storage right now). The dragons are on various book shelves in my basement for right now.

The basement of the house has basically been turned over to me by my wife (it's my "man-pit"). My plans beginning in the summer are to paint all concrete surfaces with a sealing type of concrete paint, white on the walls and grey on the floors. I will then begin the process of finishing the basement. My overall plan is for most of the basement to become a bar/library/media center. My wife will have a small room for her pantry (basically, overflow of items from the kitchen that are rarely used) and a finished bathroom with a whirlpool tub.

The bar/library/media center will have the gaming table. An entire 40' of wall will become shelving with glass doors on the front. I will be displaying my miniatures here as well as some terrain and scenery. On one wall will be a 42" plasma screen TV for movie viewing.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread about D&D minis...

If the quality increases, I may buy some more. I very much dislike the random poacking, though, and dislike taking my chances when making a purchase. When I buy minis, I like knowing what I'm getting and am willing to pay for the quality.

If you want a really high quality BIG BOX 'O GOBLINS, I highly reccommend Games Workshop. You have to glue them together before painting them, but a Goblin Regiment Boxed Set, you'll pay about $30 for 20 figures. The quality is superb, IMO.

In addition to D&D, I also play Warhammer Fantasy Battles(now that'll help your mini collection!). I run a 10,000 point Orc Army called Grimgore Ironhide's Horde. I've got tons of orcs and goblins. My next army will be undead.

I don't have the money to buy as many as I'd like to get, so I guess my money expenditure will remain the same.

They're a luxury item, anyway.

Cheers!

Well, I'm buying quite a few on the secondary market---which means I'm buying fewer boosters these days (about one per week)

But I plan to buy the same amount of boosters regardless of the price hike.

Oh, I have no interst in the minis game, I only use them for D&D.

I don't think the price hike will affect me that much since I seem to get alot at one time anyway. Pretty much I have a set idea what I want, and will try my luck with the boosters and fill in holes with the secondary market. Don't know how realistic this is, but it's a goal of mine to end up with a mini for each monster the players encounter in any given first edition adventure I own. I am going to have to get clever on some though, since Wizards hasn't bothered to make certain ones yet.

"Buy the same, spend more money"
I'm a pretty casual buyer. I've gotten one of each so far (1 starter, 1 booster and 1 of Dragoneye.) I've order a set of 4 & 4 at GameOutfitter and that will probably quench my thirst until the fiends come out. I mostly buy them for my kid, anyway.

With buying so few, it doesn't much affect me.
