Will the last person to leave WOTC please turn out the lights...

The day WotC announces they are no longer publishing D&D, if that ever happens (and I doubt it), is the day we announce the imminent release of the Penumbra Fantasy Roleplaying Game, a 100% Open Game Content core rulebook of the rules of the world's most popular FRPG. ;)

Wow, this is the best news I've ever heard regarding this subject. My main worry (up until now) was that Hasbro would evebtually sell off the D&D liscence entirely to another (3rd) party, who would then of course promptly revamp the entire system and come out with a 4th edition.

Myself having spend several hundred dollars on d20 products, I'm not terribly excited about a 4th edition D&D. But now, even if WotC does do this, it sounds as if any 3rd party vendor could simply come along and republish (perhaps with some modifications and/or corrections) the entire d20 system.

Again, to me, this proves there is really nothing to worry about. Thanks JohnNephew! :D

That's what I'm also most worried about. After investing as much as I have in 3e, and finding it very satisfactory, I don't want to hear a word about a 4e for years (if ever!)
