Which leads me to another question... then what is the point of buying the new core rulebooks if the SRD will be updated for free?

Because you won't need printed-out pages of the revised SRD in order to keep current? because there will be more pages added 9depending on which book)? Because?... Of course, keeping current by purchasing the revised books will cost a bit, and I've been thinking of getting the Neverwinter Nights game and its expansion pack...*hmmm*...

Not just for the art, surely?

If you are mainly interested in the rules and nothing else, then there is no point.

If you prefer the entire book material, then there is a point.

Just don't expect all of the material from thoe books to be present in the SRD.
