So 3rd ed has two dummies books.

It would seem to be a good idea to have a 4e D&D For Dummies book right out the door.

Any opinions?
If they're doing the magazine style right...

If they achieve to simplify unnecessarily complex stuff reasonably...

If they provide some 'starter kits' with easier stuff...

Then you won't need "D&D for Dummies".

Cheers, LT.

I think you need to ask this over at the Dummies Guide site. I'm sure if they made money on the 3rd edition ones (and I rather liked them), they'll make ones for 4th edition as well.

Did anyone read the "DMing for Dummies" book? I looked at the table of contents; looked useful, but did it have any good advice/material in there?

You know, you're throwing this one right over the plate for me....

...but I will behave this time.
I'm sure Nifft will get it.

A brutally honest opinion?

If you need a Dummes book to understand the D&D Core Rulebooks, then they need to rewrite the core rulebooks. :\

Both Dummies books were very good, yes. I now play with a DM who cut his teeth on DMing for Dummies.

In any case, I doubt it, since WotC didn't produce either of the Dummies books, and if they haven't set up Paizo and Green Ronin yet, I seriously doubt they're sliding an advance copy of the playtest rules to the Dummies freelancers.

Next you'll be saying we don't need a rules compendium to provide material in an easy to read and errata format. ;)

It would be a nice security blanket for newer folks. Three rule books that size is pretty intimidating to a new gamer.
