[WinAMP] The Ultimate Plugin

Mortaneus

First Post
For those of you who use WinAmp, this is the ultimate plugin. The thing actually analyzes songs by the context, and links up to a huge database. You can tell it to create playlists from your collection on the fly, based on a mood, style of music, era, or what have you.

Then insane profiling thing takes to much time. It's pretty pointless... And yet they make you do it in order to "pay" for more autoprofiling. What the heck do they need all that info for. I tryed to put "Eric Noah is my Half-Fiend Love Child" into the database and it took forever. What Mood is this music, is it dancable, is it angry, how sad is this, how agressive is this song. Pages upon pages of this, and doesn't even include some standard tags from the ID3 tages.

It's a great idea for a program but the execuation is bad, too much fluff (The mood of the music "huh?") and not enogh function. Only arbutes the database needs is the ones alread defined in the ID3 arcitexture.

Well, I don't know about you, but when I'm in a particular mood, I know what SORT of music I want to listen to, but often don't feel like hunting through my 2000+ mp3s for songs that suit. This makes it MUCH easier.

I have other methods of finding what song to listen to. This advertises itself as a tool for correcting your ID3 tags and file names (check out the website that's the first feature listed.) Something that's very important to me, and bably needs to be done, I can't manually do it to 3+ Gig of MP3's. And I would expect that you would want to correct your ID3's without all the mood junk getting in the way if you have 2000+

The Mood stuff is already there, ID3 format has an extensive list of catagories in the genre feild.

I'm not saying the program isn't useful, but people should know more about before taking the time to download, it's id3 support is incomplete and it is a hassle to use. Especially on things that doen't neatly fit into there genre's. You tell me, what does Ettin's music classify as.
