Wishing a Speedy Recovery for Neil Young

Oh damn, that really scared me when I read the thread title. Neil has long been one of my favorite musicians, and has treated me to two of the best concerts I've ever seen. When ever we go on a long drive, my wife always asks me "Which Neil Young album are we listening to this time?" because he's one of my favorites to listen to on long car trips.

Neil was supposed to play here in Winnipeg this weekend at the Junos (the Canadian equivalent of the Grammys)... alas. He used to live here for a long spell, and I think he still has a cabin on Lake of the Woods (which is within driving distance from here). There were a lot of disappointed fans, but I think everyone was relieved to know that he was all right.

The sight of Neil Young with a shaved patch on his noggin is a bit too weird, though. :\

Hoping for a speedy recovery...

You know, the funny thing about that quote, is that Skynyrd wrote that song while on tour opening for Neil Young. He apparently gave them one of their early breaks by bringning them out as an opening act. It was sort of an inside joke between LS and Neil that they didn't need to tour with him, but they jumped at the chance when it came along.

That's what I thought as well; though AFAIK Ronnie van Zandt liked Neil's music.
When he died, Neil Young played "Sweet Home Alabama" at a concert, and IIRC Neil wrote Powderfinger for Ronnie/Lynyrd Skynyrd to record.

I hopes he has a speedy & full recovery.

Well, it was written as a response, but in a sort of "wink, wink, nudge, nudge" mocking way between mutually respectful musicians. Of course, Neil will never admit to anything about either song. :)
