Witcher as a fighter/mage subclass

Noise to signal ratio does not make it worthwile. They are trying to create appropriate class, however it is either overpowered or not sufficiently accurate.

My advice to you is to either create a Humanoid race with slapped on Fighter/Monk levels and several unique abilities, or to create an acquired template with a healthy Level Adjustment.

Either way, the character should be very good on offensive and evasion (read: high AC, Reflex and Evasion skills).

I'm fascinated by all the people who say witchers should be NPCs - most of what I've read makes them sound almost exactly like PCs: right down to the 20th-century moral relativism.

But, to be fair, I haven't read the books nor played the games.

i was thinking to make a witcher race(mutants) n use the swordsage class as favoured.then i heard about the swordmage one n im looking to find it now.if i like it ill try to port it to 3.5 rules which i prefer:angel:

Witcher, by himself, does not differ much from typical last-of-its-kind or single-of-its-kind hero archetype. The rarity of witchers also comes from the fact that their origins have to do with wizardly types experimenting on children - gruesome, immoral and something most would be happy to forget (their goal, as explained in retroperspective, was to turn a human being into durable, manufacturable and controllable weapon against inhuman threats - I may be wrong though, since it's been awhile since I read the books).

Apparently, those Witchers who survived the process, have founded society, and, using tried and tested methods, started to created more of their kind. They are apparently ageless, so they did not need to rush things (and acquiring children for that purpose is most certainly a touchy subject in a civilized world).

World of Witcher is a dark place. It's not often that you get elvish youngsters playing terrorists, right?

iv'e given it a lot of thought. though not an expert in custom classes... but, in the game geralt has a skill tree of what they call talents my idea is to create a feat tree and make use of the fighter bonus feat class feature ofcourse it will be witchers feat only...

im i making any sense? :)

My suggestion would be to model the Witcher around the Psychic Warrior. Make his "magic stuff" be manifestations of his powers instead. With a little afterthough and not really needing anything but the (Pathfinder preferably) Human and a Lightning Reflexes feat, you'd be done.

First of all, there are PLENTY of monsters and evil things at 1st level that a new Witcher has something to cut his teeth on. Sure, some of the descriptions of a Witcher would place them in higher levels, but do keep in mind that a normal human being in this world is a 1st level commoner. When you have 2.5 hit points and that big guy has 10, he can actually take one or two swipes from a horrible monstrosity.
