[wizards.com] Why still publish stats in 3.0e format?

I suspect the reason Paizo is doing it is to prepare the audience through bits and pieces of info at a time for 3E revised. (God, I wish they'd drop that dreadful "3.5e" name.)

I don't like 3.5e either, but I've since given up resisting that one :)

As a result, "Official" only means that the product was produced by WotC, and does not inherently contain any more or less playable and balanced rules and new offerings.

Unless, of course, it's KoK...

Since I don't think the 3.5 rules are finalized yet I'm of the opinion that Piazo is jumping the gun with their use of the ruleset.
I'm pretty sure I saw something on Andy Collins' site about the 3.5e rulebooks having gone through typesetting by now, and thus being pretty much set in stone.

Did the d20 trademark make the D&D less meaningful? If that is the case, Wizards may have some concerns over the value of the D&D brand. Is the D&D brand in danger of trademark dilution? I hope not. Because if it is, Wizards will end the royalty-free, limited use of the d20 trademarked brand, just to protect the D&D brand.

The scary thing is that, depending on how you view it, the deliberate exclusion of several monsters from the SRD because they're, apparently, quintessential D&D-style monsters, may be the first step toward this.

Piazo has gone ahead and started publishing Dungeon adventures with 3.5e compatible stats. Why, then, is wizards.com still publishing creatures with 3.0 stats? I refer to the most recent Wyrms of the North feature at http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/wn/20030326a

The Wyrms of the North features have their technical parts written by Sean K. Reynolds. You know, that guy that was fired. No, this one is Monte Cook. Nah, not this one. Neither that one. Well, let's not waste one hundred and seven years enumerating the fired staff members.

Anyway, Sean is now freelancing for WotC (and anyone else that want to give him some work). He's not an employee. Therefore, he don't have access to the drafts of 3.5.

It is both Ed Greenwood and Sean K Reynolds on the Forgotten Realms stuff. Since neither of them is still working for WotC, your point still holds. I think that Sean K Reynolds may have seen the revised rules, no idea if Ed Greenwood (the original creator of FR) has.

Actually, if you look closely, there are some things that are different from 3E stats on the Wizards site. Certain blocks of text, for example - many of the <monster type> traits, the Spells Per Day, and others. They're not doing it in straight 3.5 because they don't want to reveal everything early - it's simple common sense. Once 3.5 comes out, they'll likely make whatever changes are necessary to make them compatible.

Some thoughts...

I think that since 3.5 isn't yet out (and they can change their date anytime), and we cannot play 3.5e (if you say you do, I say you play a random sketch you got somewhere, nowhere near THE 3.5 E) they wouldn't make somthing as an adventure for it, besides, everyone is curious, sure thing is, none knows what can really come out, maybe they will even rip haste to level 5 and give harm a capping damage, I mean:

MAN, WHO KNOWS HUH!!!!

That's why I said "their technical parts". Beside, I'm not sure Eddie has rewritten the dang thing anyway. He wrote these for 2e in Dragon, and they are republished on the web with stats updated by SKR. Mr Greenwood has nothing special to do in the process IMO.
