Wizards Fall Catalogue

Atreides

First Post
So I received Wizards Fall Catalog from Random House today:>

Tome of Treasures
September 16th
224 Pages, $29.95

"nearly a thousand magic items, weapons, tools and other useful items for your D&D character...features a mix of classic items updated to the 4th edition rules and brand new items never before seen"

I now wonder how many items are in the PHB/DMG...

Forgotten Realms Player's Guide
September 16th
160 Pages, $29.95

"new feats, new character powers, new paragon paths and epic destinies, and even a brand-new character class never seen in D&D: the swordmage!"

Well now we know where the Swordmage went.

Martial Power
October 21st
160 pages, $29.95 <<Ouch>>

"Book provides new archetypal builds for the fighter, ranger, rogue, and warlord classes, including new character powers, feats, paragon paths and epic destinies.

No new classes, and perhaps Talents are based on character abilities but Feats are Class Abilities?

Draconomicon: Chromatic Dragons
November 18th
288 pages, $39.95

"details of each dragon's powers, tactics, myths, lairs, servitors, and more."
Side Bar 3 New Chromatic Dragons: Brown, Purple and Grey

Chromatics only, and 3 new Dragons - well that's at least interesting I suppose

There are also a smattering of adventures and they are re-releasing the entire Prism Pentad novel set.

I'm happy that ToT will be simply a rehash of MIC but will also cover topics started in Arms and Equipment Guide. It was such a good idea for a book, a little underdeveloped so hopefully it's making a great comeback.

Which is now apparently going to be called the Adventurer's Vault.

They've told us how many already but I can't remember. 150 or something?

Well now we know where the Swordmage went.
We've known this for some time already actually ...

Side Bar 3 New Chromatic Dragons: Brown, Purple and Grey
We already knew there were going to be three new ones but we didn't know what colors they would be. I would've preferred a yellow dragon, personally, but I suppose those three colors aren't so bad. A tad drab, if you ask me, but oh well.

I am really hoping the Brown Dragon is a traditional; big, flying monster that breathes fire, eats sheep and farmers and has the intelligence of a animal kind of Dragon.

As for the Grey Dragon, my mind went instantly to fog. I can just imagine a Grey Dragon residing within or creating rolling banks of fog. Those peering into this bank, ocassionally sees a large shadowy object within the fog before it disappears again. Those that draw too near are eligible to have the Dragon spear out of the fog and snatch it up in its jaws. It is also known to have whole villages left deserted and destroyed after some fog banks roll by.

As for Purple, nothing much popped instantly into my head, but I can imagine something that deals with more planar-matters, perhaps a Dragon that prefers teleportation to flying, etc.

Damn! And I was hoping for Beige, Orange and Lavender.

Grey... dull. Oh well. I wonder if Grey will be unaligned and vague.

Isn't there a brown dragon in FR? Lives in the Shining South or something?

That's kind of a cool idea. I imagine it would get easily confused with the silver dragon, though ... which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

As for Purple, nothing much popped instantly into my head, but I can imagine something that deals with more planar-matters, perhaps a Dragon that prefers teleportation to flying, etc.
Unfortunately, the first thing that pops into my head is Barnie ... the second thing is Cormyr's Purple Dragon Knights.

Any chance the OP could list any Star Wars RPG items that were listed in the catalog? Scum & Villainy is already known about thanks to Amazon, but curious to see if there's any other SW books slated for year's end.

"Violent Violet" the Purple Dragon will need to appear in one of my games come December. ;) I doubt anyone will acuse her of being drab. I think Violet will be conversational and wacky, but with a short temper. Her first appearance will probably be while the PCs are low enough level that fighting her will be a bad idea (though not an impossible one) and she'll be set up as a skill challenge.

I'm reminded of the dragon from Shrek, which would kill encounter excitement like finding out your date for the night was actually a man.
