Wizards Fall Catalogue

I like buying a new D&D supplement every month. I usually spend about $100.00 a month on gaming materials, except on months when new minis come out - then I spend more. :o

I used to buy both Pathfinder and Game Mastery, but with PAIZO out of the D&D market, it looks like I'll be turning to Goodman Games and Necromancer to round out my monthly purchases. Too bad about Paradigm as well. I used to purchase everything they produced. Now that their not going to be doing D&D anymore, we've even canceled our monthly Living Arcanis game days (and our plans to go to Origins).

That seems a bit premature, given that the current Living Arcanis story arc is going to continue to completion as a 3.5 campaign, ending at Arcanis Con (keep and eye out for details).

If this isn't your idea of a purple dragon...

you haven't been playing D&D long enough.

Seeing as how the Swordmage was developed months ago, and has been playtested, I'm pretty satisfied it'll be balanced by the time it hits the shelves.

I am pissed about the swordmade not being in the PHB. Whether or not its placement was a calculated marketing ploy, it sure looks that way to me. From what I have seen it was a much more sought after D&D character concept than the Battlefield Tactician / Warlord.
I personally love the Warlord and that class grabbed me the first time I heard about it. And quite frankly I think the Core needs another controller. I think the Dev team ought to have removed the pages the Halfling is on, and just use those for the Swordmage.

But, I agree that the Swordmage's lack of presence sucks. Especially that it's being put in an FR book. But I'm certain it'll show up somewhere else, like DDI, or the Arcane book coming out, or something.

If not, there's always downloading the PDF* to get at at those ten or so measely pages that the class will be on.

*Rechan does not condone nor denounce the illegal pirating of copywrited property. Any presumption that Rechan condones or denounces the practice is entirely on the assumer's shoulders.

I am betting it will probably show up on DDI. Or perhaps in the second PHB (if it doesn't just cover new power sources).

Also, I think one of the reasons the Swordmage is in the FR book, is I am betting there will be heavy ties to FR fluff with the Swordmage. My reasoning for this, is the fact that there is a new FR novel coming out. Called Swordmage, and I believe set in the post-Spellplague FR.

I think the first new core class was added to 3E about three years the edition came out.

Less than one year. The Psionics Handbook introduced 2 new classes and entirely separate system of powers in March, 2001, bringing the total core classes up to 13. Oriental Adventures introduced 5 new classes in October, 2001, bringing the total core classes up to 18.

4E will have at east doubled the number of core classes at that time.

If it takes 4E three years (or even one year) to reach 16 core classes, that's still slower than 3E.

So I received Wizards Fall Catalog from Random House today:>

*snip*

There are also a smattering of adventures and they are re-releasing the entire Prism Pentad novel set.

Hm...I LOVE Dark Sun, but despise the "official" history and most of the novels to hell. Not for the writing, just for totally making a stupid mess of one of the best fantasy settigns, ever. Ick.

Wonder if they are pavign way for for Dark Sun 4th ed...?
if so, ditch every dern thing they did for DS, bar the first boxed set, Dune Trader and some other bits, puh-lease!

halflings in Spaceships should only exist in Spelljammer, k? and prefferably being eaten by neogi, too boot :p

Agreed. They need to either turn back the clock or just move it forward enough to clean up most of the messes and fix things. Level 40 Dragon-Kings for each City State forever! :)
