Wizards' Rules of the Game articles

Does anyone know if Wizards plans to consolidate their Rules of the Game articles into, say, easy-to-print and easy-to-read PDFs?

Does anyone know whether it would be illegal for someone to put said articles into a PDF and make them available for download? (Appropriate credit would be required, of course, and they couldn't be made for sale or anything like that.)

I believe that you can download each installment as a PDF file directly from the website.

There's no real reason for them to consolidate the information beyond the article installments, however.

As for the legality of doing so yourself? Probably questionable if you distribute it in the way you're talking about.

It would be a big mistake to use the Rules of the Game articles in your game without modification. They contradict each other, the FAQ and the core rules in many, many places. They were clearly not edited or checked very well.

It's not that bad. They offer some really valuable advice. Yes, they get it wrong sometimes, but they get it right far more frequently. I think it's a good idea to collate all these into a single pdf.

Maybe so, but there is no way to tell the difference between what's valid and what's wrong, unless you already have the rules down pat. And if you do grasp the rules well enough to spot all the errors, the articles won't tell you anything you don't already know.

The ROTG articles should definitely not be collected or reprinted until they've been checked by a rules-competent editor.

Well, if you don't know the rules, you won't care whether you get it right or wrong, as long as you enjoy the game. Besides, there's not really a right or wrong here in any case - just different rules covering the same thing. And the errors aren't really that severe to make a difference to how the game runs.

Not necessarily true. I have e-mailed Wizards (twice), pointing out errors in the RotG articles, and they've corrected the article (once), but I've also learned some things I didn't already know by reading the articles.

You're never such an expert that you can't learn from someone else.
