Very much describes me. After finding most fandoms to be a toxic cesspit, I've largely abandoned any fansites or discussions of pretty much anything so that I can come to a show without a bunch of pre-conceptions and fresh eyes. Marvel, Star Wars, Star Trek, pretty much any major franchise, I avoid any and all media about it like the plague.

Endlessly listening to the same old superfans leaping up onto their soapboxes to Comic Book Guy tear stuff apart is not my idea of a good time.

I think the question now is where do they go from hear? I sometimes worry about season 2 because it will have to be different and there is plenty of room to mess it up(like season 2 of the bear).

I think they made it a Marvel Spotlight show because they knew it was a self contained story and there isnt going to be a season 2. Simon Williams will show up else where (Dooms Day?) but it wont be a sequel

This.

Well, yes, but it's more than that for Simon. He's a total acting nerd. The fact that he has so much knowledge in his head that he overthinks everything is a major plot point. He loses his role on AHS because of it. He loses his girlfriend because of it. He almost blows his Wonder Man audition because of it.
Speaking of his girlfriend, seemed like an almost criminal under use of Olivia Thirlby. I mean her one real scene was really important, of course, but I wonder whether there was originally going to be a bit more.

It’s not a case of reading spoilers, the headlines of the reviews from leading British newspapers like the Guardian indicated the nature of the show (whist singing its praises). Not fans, not toxic, just professional journalists and critics.

Again, not English either. Look, I get it. You think that I should have known what the show was before I watched it. I missed the stories. Didn't cross my radar. It happens.

🤷

Tell you what, you tell me how many times you've seen stories about Kusunoki no Bannin and then we'll talk.

Yeah its strange, I typically wouldn't be interested in this kind of lowburn Hollywood satire, I watch TV either for the action adventure or for comedy, yet I enjoyed Wonder Man despite lacking both. All I can conclude is that Kingsley and Abdul-Mateen and Zlatko Buric really were great actors and kept me hooked
My partner is a great believer in choosing TV shows based on the acting ability of the cast, rather than the genre.
