wondering about holysilver

revised 3.5 is looking up (IMHO naturally). I like the idea of DR as functioning more like SR (and less like the totally-immunity-to-low-level-characters system that it is now).

I wonder if

1. Holysilver is a way to make Demon DR apply to more things.... and compensate for the lack of hit points that a lot of Outsiders have (raising hitpoints being something that Monte Cook, among others, has been recommending people increase to make them a more appropriate threat for their CR).
[I know that the pit fiend also got a power boost, including more hit points, but I think of that more as a way to correct it toward the new epific world.]

2. What is going to be useful against celestials? Unholygold?

What kills what?

To kills Celestials, don't use unholy gold! Use blessed obsidian weapons, or blood/poisin-quenched steel!

To kill Slaad, use crystalline weapons. The ordered structure of the crystal is anethma to them, forcing their flesh in to a lawful state that is instantly fatal for the tissue in question.

To kill Modrons/Formians, use chains, whips, flails, and other items that whip around with chaotic abandon. Or, if that seems stupid to your tastes, try glass, which is really a supercooled fluid, filled with slow moving chaotic browning movement.

I hope this means that different types of Lycanthropes will require different types of materials like in 2E. I love it when characters expect silver to defeat one, only to find it doesn't work. :D
