...just got a new notebook computer today. A Dell Inspiron 8600. Been waiting for a long time to get away from my old piece of junk comp....feels good to NOT have a computer crash every two minutes.

congrats, I felt the same way the first time I financed a GOOD
computer....hadn't had a REAL job before, felt good to be able
to get what I wanted and buy it all on my own. THAT was the
first time I finally felt like I had become an adult (Hey, what can
I say, I'll never truly "grow up")

I love my 8600 -- it's great to be able to have 2 full pdf or Word pages open side-by-side; it actually makes reading electronic documents practical. I'm taking a course now that I'm able to do 100% paperless; before I was printing everything out.

Wireless Internet is a big bonus (I wish I'd brought my router on this trip -- the 25' Ethernet tether is a bit of a bother).

Congrats. Heck, I've only got the Inspiron 1100 and I love it. Since I mostly game on consoles anyway, all I needed was something I could program on and that could browse the web. With my custom software combo (Netscape, Trillian, various media players) I can browse the net like a six handed monkey that was really good an web surfing.

Wireless internet? Beware of microwaves. They are the enemy.

Neverwinter Nights? Prepare to be disappointed. Morrowind is better.
