wood golems for druids?

I can't recall if Wood Golems even exist in the monster manual. Assuming they don't, why couldn't a druid make something like a wood golum? It would be interesting.

There is one in the creature collection, but I dont have it with me. I think a druid can negate some of the cost by finding the materials himself

If you are planning on designing your own Wood Golem, you might take a look at the Wood Element template's abilities from MotP for some inspiration. Their special abilities are:
Spikes (Ex): A wood element creature can release volleys of bark, splinters, or wood shards, up to four such spikes per round, as a standard action. this attack has a range of 120 feet with no range increment. Damage is 1d6+Strength bonus. The wood element creature can launch up to its total HD in spikes per day.
Woodsense (Ex): A wood element creature can automatically sense the location of anything within 60 feet that it is contact with vegetation, even if the wood element creature isn't in contact with the same vegetation.

Also, in addition to the benefits it would gain from being a construct (immune to mind-influencing effects, poisons, disease, and similar effects; not subject to critical hits, subdual damage, ability damage, energy drain, or death from massive damage), you might consider making them plant creatures, too. Plant creatures are immune to polymorphing and also aren't subject to mind-influencing effects.

I'd have a serious issue with wether a druid would think it's a good idea to bring another faux-living thing into being. Especially when you could just get a treant to do it for you.

I think I'd rather just make the druid 'awaken' the living spirit of the land and give it the ability to control itself. It could be fun making PC's fight the dungeon....the WHOLE dungeon.

Well, there are those Boguns in MoTW. They're constructs, right?

If think it's cool...make it work with the druid ethos, if need be.

Yes, the Bogun is basically a Homunculus that a druid can make (cheaper than the wizard can make a homunculus, actually.) It annoys me no end.

Myself, I wouldn't permit a druid to make a wood golem, mainly because I see golems as the bailiwick of the wizard. It's his "thing" as surely as summoning treats and shambling mounds are the druid's.

I might be pursuaded to allow the druid to give the Wood Template to his animal companion, though. That would certainly be interesting... :)
