let's say they went to PDF and had 1 billion copy stolden but sold say, five hundred copies... probably about 400 more copies than they're going to make on the print run and they won't have to pay for printing costs or keep it in someone's garage and hope that they avoid a flood.
Congrats again to the writer though! It's always great to get published.
