I had a friend trade me his copy of the first edition D&Dg for some d20 stuff. I had the chance to pick up a swecond copy for about 15 bucks at some used store but didn't really need a second one.
I can understand your not wanting to pay some of these huge privces. I was socked to see planscape books, not the box sets books like Guide to the Inner Planes priced at 60$ at Gen Con. Great book, but not worth that much.
