Hmm. That's interesting.
Maybe during a long rest they can roll d6 and on a 6 roll on the Boons/Discovery table. That would average out to about 1 per week.

I don’t particularly like that from a Narrator Perspective. I wouldn’t feel as though the character had earned whatever reward they received.

If it's attached to spending some time (maybe a short rest) looking around, it seems appropriate.
